Undisputed Book Redesign is a conceptual editorial redesign of Donovan Bailey's memoir, Undisputed: The Fastest Man's Untold Story. The project reimagines the book's cover, interior spreads, chapter openers, and typographic system to better reflect Bailey's athletic legacy and personal story. The redesign uses bold condensed type, track-inspired pacing, a custom running figure, and a clean editorial grid to create a reading experience that feels direct, energetic, and considered.
The visual direction was built around speed, restraint, and legacy. Rather than relying on heavy sports clichés, the redesign uses strong typography, controlled spacing, and athletic visual cues to connect the memoir's personal tone with Bailey's history as an Olympic sprinter. The cover system focuses on impact and recognition. Large type, track imagery, and a focused portrait treatment create a bold first impression while keeping the design grounded in the story of the athlete behind the record.

Interior Body Copy
The interior layout uses clean chapter openers, generous white space, and a recurring running figure to create rhythm throughout the book. The goal was to make the reading experience feel organized and intentional while giving the memoir a stronger visual identity. Body copy follows a precise editorial grid with clear hierarchy between section headers and running text — a counterpoint to the raw, personal nature of Bailey's storytelling.
This project helped me explore how editorial design can shape the tone of a story before the reader even begins the text. The redesign focused on building a system that felt athletic without becoming overly decorative, balancing bold visual moments with a clear and readable interior structure.
